Flapping default gateway on Cat4006 layer 3 Module
After configuring VLANs on a Cat4006 layer 3 module, i noticed the default gateways on each of the subnets were flapping when running a continous ping to them from each subnet.3548 were used at the access layer switches trunked to the cat4006 via gigabit interfaces. any ideas what could be wrong ???
Re: Flapping default gateway on Cat4006 layer 3 Module
If you run a continuous ping through the VLAN interfaces (i.e., from a device in VLAN A to a device in VLAN B) rather than to them, odds are you won't see this packet loss. Generally, Cisco routers give pings destined to them a very low priority relative to other traffic, so it's fairly common to see such pings dropped while traffic going *through* the router flows fine.
