Has anyone come across the following behaviour. Upgrade the IOS on a 3661 router to an IP plus version to handle E3 Network module. The current flash files were copied to a PCMCIA card. After deleting all files in flash when we try to copy the new image to flash we keep getting the error message that the flash is write protected yet using the show flashfs it appears it is RW. We can't even copy the files we copied to the PCMCIA card (which we are having to boot from) back to flash. Has anyone come across this behaviour?. Help most appreciated. KJP

Did you run the "squeeze" command after you deleted all files from flash? The "squeeze" command erases all files that were marked for deletion on a flash file system.
Until you squeeze it, those deleted files are still taking up space on the flash. Which could be what's keeping you from being able to copy anything back to it from the PCMCIA card.
What revision of IOS are you running?

Thanks very much for the reply, unfortunately our IOS (12.3(2)XF) on the 3661 does not support that command. Thanks again KJP
