Flash Memory

I have a 3640 with 2 x 8M flash simms - is it possible to combine the memory to enable me to load a single 11M IOS image ?

Do I need a 12M or 16 M flash sim?

Hi,

I don't think you could combine slot0 & slot1 to attain 16 MB by 2 x 8M.

12/16 MB? ... depends on future expansion plans.

As 3640 is scalable & Cisco recommends to upgrade the IOS to next higer version that fixes bug very often if and when released, I suggest you 16 MB.

slot0 and slot1 are the external pcmcia slots. All of the internal flash is one pool unless someone partioned it. The trick is that when you expand it (add the second module) you need to erase the old flash for it to combine as one pool. If it came with 16 it should all be available already. Enter dir and see how much flash you have used and available.
