flash partitions

I installed 2 8 meg flash simms in a 2501 which now leaves me at the

(boot)> prompt. When I do a sh flash I see 2 partitions. From global

config mode I have used the "no partition flash command"

and get a response of " %error default partitioning can't be done "

I can't tftp the IOS because its greater than an individual partition so I'm

unsure of how to proceed.

Re: flash partitions

Does 'partition flash 1 16' work?

Re: flash partitions

Problem is solved. It was necessary to do an " erase flash " and you are then prompted for which partition with the default being 2, which in my case was

what I wanted to do. So I excepted the default. Then I went to glob. config.

mode and entered "partition flash 1 " which then gave me 1 partition.

It was necessry to perform the " erase flash " . Without doing that first

the " partition 1 flash command " wouldn't execute.

Prior to the above I was limited to an IOS of less than 8 meg due to the

partitions and the router was in (boot)> mode so I had to first load an ios

that was less than 8 meg so that I could proceed to combine the

partitions into one

I think you will only run across this type of prob. with 2500 series routers.
