Flexwan module support on the 6509?

I have a c6509 (IOS 5.4(3)) with redundant sups with MSFCs and PFCs. The IOS on the MSFCs is 12.0(7)XE1.

If I upgrade to IOS 12.1(6)E, will I be able to recognize and configure a flex wan module with a PA-A3 OC3 adapter from the MSFC on the primary supervisor (module 15)? My understanding was that I could not use a flexwan in a c6509 with redundant supervisors.

Re: Flexwan module support on the 6509?

You CAN use the FlexWAN with redundant supervisors but there is a limitation. Make sure you upgrade your switch software to 5.5.7 as well.

The limitation is that only 1 MSFC at a time will recognize the flexWAN. You will need to configure "config-sync" between the MSFCs in order to have the FlexWAN configure appear in the "non-designated" MSFC after a failover from the "designated" MSFC.
