hi,
we have a distribution layer with 7206 routers.
on this router we do ip-routing and fr-switching.
now we have to upgrade the link to these 7206 to atm.
i don´t want to encapsulate the fr-pvc in an ip-tunnel.
is there a possibility on the 7206 routers to configure fr-pvc direct over atm pvc ?
if yes - can u please give me an url on cco (could not find one)
if it is possible on 7206 router - is it also possible on 3640, 3660 ??
second question:
if i would encapsulate the fr-pvc in ip-tunnels - how can i guarantee qos (cir,..) in the tunnel - this would mean i have to configure a individual tunnel for every fr-pvc ????
i have about 100 of them on the 7206 :-(
so in my opinion it would be the best to configure fr-pvc over atm
thanks for answer and greetings from austria !

Hello -
I'm pretty sure I don't understand your dilemma, but I'll take a shot at it. ;)
If the problem is with the switched PVCs you can do FRF.8 on the 7200 and just switch the FR PVC to an ATM PVC:
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/121/frf8_sample.html
This way there is no re-encapsulation of FR into ATM. (Though I know of no standard that would allow FR encapsulated into ATM.)
I hope this answers your questions.

Clay

hi clay,
thanks for your answer - even one(two) things:
a.) what is the difference between frf5 and frf8 ???
b.) if i transport e.g. 50 fr-pvc over atm - am i able to configure such things as cir, be,.. for every fr-pvc in the atm-pvc ??
in other words:
if i transport 50 fr-pvc over atm must i configure 50 atm-pvc (one atm_pvc for one fr_pvc)
or is it possible to configure one "pipe" and transport all fr-pvc over this
one pipe (atm-pvc).
and as i mentioned: what about fr-sla parameters (cir,..) -
c.) is frf5 or frf8 able to transport fr-svc (the fr enddevice calls)
thanks a lot !
