Frame-relay inverse-arp and static mapping

The cisco doc http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios121/121cgcr/wan_c/wcdfrely.htm#xtocid7

says that when you configure static mapping, it will automatically disable the in-arp. but When I configured a static mapping in multipoint environment, I can see both static and dynamic mapping with command "show frame map", it seems that the inverse-arp is not being disabled, why?

Thanks/fujin

Hy

frame-map statement only disabled the In-arp for that specific DLCI.

Re: Frame-relay inverse-arp and static mapping

It's possible the router learned the DLCI through

Inv-arp before you configured the static mapping,

this is why you'll see both dynamic & static entries

for the same DLCI.

Re: Frame-relay inverse-arp and static mapping

The in-arp process is enabled by default, so first the router will learn the mapping through in-arp. Once you configure the static map, both maps will be present. But if you reload the router, you can see that the dynamic mapping for that particular dlci has been removed. Check it out.

I think clearing in-arp will give you the same result.
