frame traffic shaping

If i have a serial interface configured for frame-relay with an access speed of 256k

And two subinterfaces with class-map configured

that stipulates that both PVC's can burst to line but drop back to min cir in periods of congestion.

Adaptive.

cir = 256k

min cir =1 k

what will whappen if one circuit is idle and the other is pumping out 240k constantly.

Then the idle PVC starts trying to send around 20k worth of traffic.Will it, the circuit that is trying to send 20k get throttled back to min cir 1k or will they both recieve fecn and drop back % per interval?Or will the the PVC that was using 240k be unafected.

Personally I would have configured the cir to 128k myself on both circuits.and burst to 256

But this scenario is configured in one of our clients enviroments.

thankyou

In this scenario, My view is after bursting to 240 k remaining 16k is left out. And this 16k can be used within that time interval and you cant carry to the next time interval. Hence the next interface cant burst the traffic and will fall back to mincir of 1k.

Best option is the second one, You have to also watch traffic pattern for a certain time period.
