Re: Free slots in a 3640

3640 has only 2 WIC slots, of which both are now populated so your WIC you desire to install would not fit into this without getting rid of one of them currently installed.

Hope this helps,

Don

Re: Free slots in a 3640

You have a NM-1E2W installed in slot 0. The "2W" means you

have 2 WAN card slots available but since WIC Slot 0 is occupied,

you could still insert the WIC-1T on Slot 0's 'WIC slot 1'

You have the same option for Slot 1 wherein you have a NM-2W.

Slot 1's 'WIC Slot 1' is still available. But to make sure, you might

want to check the router physically to determine if there are free slots.

Hope this helps.

Re: Free slots in a 3640

Hello,

You tell me that its impossible to add a WIC. I don't undertand because I have a NM-1E-2W and a NM-2W. Which one ho this NM has ONLY ONE WIC installed.

So I think that I have one free WIC in each of this NM ...

And I can't physically acces to my router (only telnet).

Regards,

Michel.

Re: Free slots in a 3640

Yes, you're right. You have one free WIC slot for the two NMs.

Both network modules only has a single WIC card installed.

(Unless a defective card is installed in the slot.)

The 'show version' command should give the number of interfaces

you have in your router.

Here's a sample output from a 3640 router:

(I have removed some info like serial numbers, etc.)
