From Ethernet 1 to ISP.

Hello all, I have got a Cisco 1605r Router and I my Company network is connected to the ISP through Ethernet1 on the router. Ethernet1 is directly connected to the ISP. Is there any software, tools or utility or anything that I could monitor the amount of traffic(in Megabytes or Gigabytes) from interface Ethernet1 to the ISP.

You can use snmp on the router with NMS software like whats up gold. You can download an evlaluation copy at www.ipswitch.com. Alternativly write a simple script to do a show interface on the router and keep statistics on input/output bytes. Have fun!

Another great (and very flexible) utility is MRTG, Multi-Router Traffic Grapher. It is a free (under the GNU public license) program, with Linux, Unix and Win32 versions and lots of different websites offering support, tips, etc. One place to go is http://www.mrtg.org, another is http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/
