Full HSRP details

Hello,

I have another post about my current HSRP issues but I have another question regarding HSRP...

What is EVERYTHING that has to be setup in order for HSRP to work properly, there is not only the hsrp protocol.

For example, what syncs the vlan data, ip routes, access lists etc... from the active to standby router if it fails...

Basically what I want to know, is what are ALL components that must be activated with hsrp in order to have a complete fail over second router that can take charge if ANY port or the whole router fails... ?

Thanks

It answer your question. HSRP is simple and for the LAN connection. Normally, you don't need to concern it w/ routing protocol, due to the only the real IP will be carried in routing protocol. Two of the key issues are the hello timer matching and the priority setting.

Hope this helps.
