GBIC connectivity problem

Problems connecting a 5509 supervisor GBIC port to a 3550 12G GBIC port. The port at 3550 goes into error disable mode after it detects a link flap.

Checked everything, the GBICs, Fibre cables, ports etc. Tried setting the autonegotiation parameters.

5509 has a Supervisor Engine III FSX (WS-X5534-E1-GESX), running software version 5.2(1). 3550 is running IOS Version 12.1(11)EA1.

Do you have LX or SX GBIC's, are they the same? Also, what type of fiber? Do you have a launch cable in use where possibly it shouldn't be?

It is integrated SX GBIC on 5509 suppervisor, and SX GBIC on 3550.

Using 3 meter multimode fibre cable.

What do you mean by launch cable?
