Hi,

Can somebody help with a problem with a Cat2950, which is crashing when starting a session from a client to a Multicast Ghostserver.

The error message: Schan Error Intr:...... appears.

After that the switch isn´t reachable anymore and have to reset it, otherwise the switch is definitely out of the loop!

Please help!

Martin

The complete error message might have been usefull.

Anyway can you make sure the Multicast server isn't in the same vlan as the management interface of the 2950.

This is probably the case and the 2950's CPU is also receiving all the traffic

from the multicast server

Or alternatively make sure you use IGMP

Hi,

The complete error is something like Schan Error Intr: src=6 dst=5 opcode=20.

The effect of the Ghost session is indeed that all the ports are blinking rapidly and the switch looks overloaded. I think it´s a flood of multicast packets, but I thought these switches are configured default to block broadcast and multicast traffic.

Indeed all the stations are in the same VLAN.

We´re setting up the LAN components and as for now there is no router present (not yet) to route from one VLAN to the other.

Only 7 switches and some servers.

Can I configure some ports (on the switch) to another VLAN, so that i can use the MultiCast server and 1 or more clients?

Thanks for the info.

Greets,

Martin
