Hi Cisco Fan´s
Does anyone know if the cat 4500 (SUP IV & WS-X4306-GB) supports the GigaStack or 1000BaseT gbic?
Respectively if its on the roadmap ...
Thanks for answers

Hello
It depends of the IOS :
at the customer site i use 1000BaseT with WS-X4306-GB on 4506 SUPIV
with not "error"
but if you see :
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps663/prod_release_note09186a0080144e6f.html
It seems that it's not supported yet.
supported : WS-X4306-GB
6-port 1000BASE-X (GBIC) Gigabit Ethernet switching module
not supported : WS-G5483
When you see :
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps663/products_field_notice09186a008014ef30.shtml
Customers who need the latest hardware support and software features should stay with the Catalyst 4000/4500 IOS 12.1EW release train today. Customers who migrate to 12.1(13)EW should expect to migrate to subsequent releases for the Catalyst 4000/4500 IOS 12.1EW.
So i will say that they have been supported in 12.1(13)EW .
Regards.

The GigaStack will not work with the Catalyst 4500 series switches. See the following link for info on the gigastack: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps872/products_quick_reference_guide09186a00800d9ca5.html
The 1000Base T GBIC (WS-G5483) will work only if the 4500 runs the CatOS (7.2 and higher). See the following link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps872/products_quick_reference_guide09186a0080189949.html
Hope this helps.

WS-G5483 is supported in the EW train. So 12.1(13)EW1 will support it. Release notes should be useful
