I was wondering whether Cisco has any client for Windows OS to manage switches via SNMP other than Cisco Works? We are until now Nortel shop but migrating slowly to the Cisco at the core. If you do not mind about the following discussion which I want to share with you. To manage Nortel switches we have device manager which talks to the switch via SNMP and not part of any package like Optivity NMS. It could be downloaded from Nortel's web site for contracted customers like us. Practically we could do any thing what we could could do from the command line. I appreciate if some one throw some light on this topic. Thanks.

Would they web based access to the switch be enough for you? http://switchipaddress

I appreciate the response. I have not used the web based access yet and one of the Cisco Engineers told me about loading *.cv file on the switch to be managed. Also we have on Nortel switches an embedded web server and we can manage the switch via http protocol but we have disabled for security purposes and also due to code red incidents. All I wanted to know is whether Cisco has developed any software like Nortel's device manager for switches which talks to the switches via SNMP. I do know about Cisco works which is an NMS package which can be used to manage Cisco switches via graphical user interface. What I mean is apart from Cisco Works, whether Cisco has any software to manage switches via SNMP separate from Cisco Works. Thanks.
