Graphing DSL - mrtg / prtg

Hi just a quick question about graphing DSL.

Currently when I graph DSL I have to graph the virtual-interface which is bound to the dialer interface. Graphing the ATM interface and the virtual-interface give me the same results.

Graphing the dialer interface give me no results as this is showing as dormant.

The problem I have is that the graphing is showing peek rate of circa 256kb/s and will spike to 300kb/s.

Taken while downloading a large file:

dialer interface txload 124/255, rxload 115/255

5 minute input rate 959000 bits/sec

atm interface txload 6/255, rxload 204/255

5 minute input rate 242000 bits/sec

virtual interface 22/255, rxload 205/255

5 minute input rate 233000 bits/sec

I'm pretty sure the dialer interface is showing the correct d/l rate as it's a 2MB connection, but MRTG/PRTG can only seem to graph the ATM or Virtual interface, showing dialer as dormant?

any ideas

Hello Ken,

I am monitoring many ADSL lines for customers using MRTG and I use the ATM interface. I guess all traffic has to go in and out of the physical interface eventually, and if you have only one dialer, the traffic statistics from the ATM interface should be correct.
