GRE tunnel mcast - hsrp

Two Cisco6509 w/msfc no VTP. Vlan routing hsrp groups on a vlan interface basis. Presently tunneling multicast in GRE over a set of nokia440/checkpoint FW solution running VRRP to a set of Cisco2621 routers. The problem is taking full advantage of HSRP. Can I terminate/source a GRE tunnel on an HSRP interface? I don't mean the physical interface- rather the virtual or shared interface. This would mean I could use one tunnel instead of two with creative HSRP tracking to force a symmetrical device failover.

Thanks a million - Production environment, of course.

Re: GRE tunnel mcast - hsrp

Nevermind. Got ahold of a couple of routers to set up a test. The tunnel can be sourced and terminated on the virtual HSRP interfaces.

When failover occurs, the PIM neighbor will change to the active interface (dense mode).
