my dial-in router after sometime will crash and restart after displaying this error on the console:
3d19h: %SYS-2-MALLOCFAIL:Memory allocation of 1680 bytes failed from 0x317A4D4, pool I/O, alignment 0
-Process="Pool Manger", ipl=6, pid=4
-Traceback=319FB06 31A0888 317A4DC 31AA3C4
I have upgraded my IOS from 11.2 to 11.3 hoping this problem can be rectified because some postings on these kinds of problems suggested an IOS upgrade caused by a bug. In my case, this didn't work for me. I monitored the Pool Manager Process using the SHOW PROCESSES MEMORY command. I noticed that when the value reaches 1Mb+ from an average of 200-500KB the router will crash after a while.
Appreciate any help on what is the function of the Pool Manager, and what are the subprocesses it handles so I can pinpoint what is causing the problem.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
