I just loaded a new image from my tftp server. image file name is c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin. What is the proper way to set the new boot image file?
thank you

is the command I suggested getting an error? It should work.
The boot variable is not specifying the device. you boot variable shows:
BOOT path-list: c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin
it should show
BOOT path-list: flash:c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin
So, whatever you've configure was wrong. Copy and paste from the config mode the following:
boot system flash:c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin
In addtion, in you dir flash: the file named c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin shows it has 3571 KB but the file on CCO shows it should be 4851.7 KB, I think when you TFTP this image in, it did not copy that entire file but that is another problem. So, you have two problems, first the image in the flash right now is not complete and second you're boot variable is not valid.

to donwload into 3550 flash:
copy tftp:c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin flash
To set teh boot variable on the 3550 to run the new image:
boot system flash flash:c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin

thanks for the responce.
I did a boot system c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin
wr
reload
But when the router reboots I get a "loading c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin Permission denied"
Error loading c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin
And it reverts back to it's original file.
Any suggestions?
thanks,

Thank you very much. You were right. I downloaded the file again from CCO and used your command boot system flash:c3550-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin and it works!
Thanks again for all your help.
