HELP: which memory to upgrade in 4000-M

i want to upgrade the ios on a 4000-m. The Planner says it needs "16 MB RAM".

Is that the 'Main Memory SIMM' or the 'Shared-Memory SIMM' ?

when i do a sh ver it indicates:

"... with 8192/16384 bytes of memory"

which one is that?

This router currently has 8 Meg main memory and 16 Meg shared memory.

The amount of memory specified to run a certain image is Main memory. The shared memory is only used for I/O buffers so the amount required will depend on how much traffic the router is handling.

In any case 16 Meg is the maximum amount of shared memory that can me installed. 32 Meg is the maximum amount of main memory in a 4000-M.
