I just bought a used 2500 router over the internet. I tried connecting through the console port but I keep getting an error. This is the error:
Bad memory - wrote zero, read 0x00010000 at location 0x00000010
What can I do? The first time I started the router it worked and it asked for a password. Now it just gives the above error. Is this router useless now. What can I do with it.? I am currently taking my CCNA class and we have only had one class so far so I am very very new with this but want to learn. Thank you in advance for your help. thanks
Hello. I had the exact same problem during "system bootstrap" (bootup). I opened the case, (with proper grounding technique) used a pencil eraser to clean the "fingers" of the SIMMS, any oxidation on the SIMMS on both sides, then used compressed air to clean out any dust in the SIMM slots and on the motherboard. Now it works like a charm. Good luck.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
