Help with latency over a kilostrem with 1601 Series?

I need help with increase the latency(if that's the right terminology) on a 1601 Series Router. They are used over 80 Miles apart but the systems we have inplace hold onto the packets for a long time. I have set the Routers up back to back and the work and comunicate, but on the Kilo Stream link they refuse to talk. This there a way?

Is there a latency problem (no errors), or do your routers refuse to talk (or clock up lots of errors) ?

If you are seeing errors when connected through the KiloStream, you need to double check your clocking configuration etc....

The latency is made up of several parts at each end of the link;

processing delay (within the router), serilaization delay (time to clock the data onto the interface etc.) and the propagation delay (time taken to travel the distance).

If allow a few mS for the processing delay. The serialization delay for a KiloStream (64kbps ?) should be about;

Serialization Delay = frame size (bits) / link bandwidth (bps)

For example, a 1500-byte packet takes 187 ms to leave the router over a 64 Kbps link and should be less than a couple of ms slower through the KiloStream over such a short distance (approx. 10 micro seconds per mile).....

Is your latency > 200ms for a 1500 byte packet ?
