High CPU utilization on Catalyst 3500 XL switches.

Hi we have a customer with several Cat. 3500 XL switches. 12, 24 and 48 ports. They are all running software version 12.0(5.4)WC(1).

All of the switches is showing CPU util of 98-99% when using the command "show proc cpu". I know that this has nothing to do with the switching performance but normally this value is between 40 to 50 %.

The process "router autoconf" is run about 40 % which I have not seen before.

Has anybody else seen this ????

Thanks in advance

Re: High CPU utilization on Catalyst 3500 XL switches.

We had this with a customer, it is a bug.

This seems to be bug ID CSCdv21552

When a switch boots up with a vlan without an IP address and in

shutdown state, and another vlan has an IP address and is up, cpu

utilisation will go up to 99% when running version 12.0(5.4)WC1

This problem dosnt happen in releases 12.0(5.3)WC1 or older.
