how big is the SNMP traffic

The customer has a CiscoWorks at the moment and going to have a CA Unicenter later. Is it good to have both CA and CiscoWorks to poll all the network devices for information and status and also to receive SNMP traps?

The concern is the SNMP traffic may be heavy.

How big is these SNMP traffic?

SNMP is a low priority protocol and should not create any traffic load on your network. But on the other hand if you have a large number of devices and if you poll too often, it may load yuor devices with SNMP traffic. Have a look at:

CA Unicenter will generate a significantly greater amount of SNMP traffic depending on the polling cycles that are selected. Configure Unicenter to initially only monitor basic SNMP status on highly used subnet and observe the traffic.
