How can I set the policy routing on the Catalyst 3550?

C3550 has joined the OSPF network and planned to use policy route to control the traffic for two redundancy WAN links.

Re: How can I set the policy routing on the Catalyst 3550?

Hi,

it seems PBR to be supported in the latest IOS:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12113ea1/3550scg/swiprout.htm#10129

But there are still some limits, see unsupported commands:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12113ea1/3550scg/swuncli.htm#1014499

In the previous IOS version set ip next-hop command was not supported, e.g. : http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12112cea/3550scg/swuncli.htm#xtocid24

But generally it should be possible now.

Could you explain a little more fully?

Re: How can I set the policy routing on the Catalyst 3550?

Russ,

Thanks your attention!

FIrst of all, I initially configure the PBR on the interface vlan which join the OSPF network to control some of the traffic. At that time, the C3550 EMI prompt an error message something like "you should enable extended routing". Actually, I don't understand why at that time. From reference to the document on PBR C3550, the default sdm prefer should be changed. Once use sdm prefer routing, the PBR is OK.

BTW, do you know why I should change the sdm? Will the sdm change some of settings on the C3550? Can you give me some idea?

I don't know why you should have to change the SDM in this case--I'm not extremely familiar with the 3500's architecture, so.... :-)
