How can i solve the "excessive input rate of traffic problem on Cat4000 ?

Our c4k has some error : Rcv-err, runts and FCS on the same port.

Rcv-err counter is same runts + FCS.

I don't know where runts and FCS error cause to Rcv-err , or Rcv-err cause to runts and FCS.

And I wonder how can i do against excessive input rate of traffic (Rcv-err).

Is there any method to control input buffer on Cat 4000 ?

What line card are you having problems with? Is it a fastethernet or gigabit?

What software version are you running? We also had few bugs which could cause FCS errors to increment.

Our line card is WS-X4232-L3 (JAB054006J4) and use only 10/100 ports.

and CatOs version 5.5(13a).

rcv-err is the sum of all receive errors. some of our documenation may show rcv-err as receive buffer failure which is not true for cat4k. So yes, your real problem is FCS/Runts. which typically caused by bad cabling/speed duplex mismatch/faulty nic/patch panel.

There is no way to control input buffer regardless. In this case it is not the problem anyway.
