How do I delete a vlan out of a 6509 switch?

Switch software - 5.3(5a). I have a vlan 221 I want to clear out of this switch. On a 5505 I can type 'clear vlan 221' , but there is not such command on the 6509. 'clear vlan ?' shows 'clear vlan mapping' only. Is this what I want?

clear VLAN should work in CAT6500 as well

Is this switch a VTP client? If so try this on your VTP server

Base on the post I am assuming that the Cat is running Native IOS. If this is true and the 6509 is a server or transparent in a VTP domain; you can delete a vlan from vlan database mode. As follows:

Cat6509(config)#

Cat6509(config)#vlan database

Cat6509(config-vlan)#no vlan ??? - where ??? is the vlan number to be deleted.

Hope this helps.
