How do I stop an ethernet Interface from announcing a Loopback address

I have a 3600 Series Router running 12.1 IOS. When monitoring the port it is connected to on a Catalyst 2900 XL, I notice a loopback message being sent on regular intervals. Why is it doing this, when I don't have a loopback interface configured on the router? Also, if at all possible, I would like to stop the interface from sending it out. How would I go about doing this?

Re: How do I stop an ethernet Interface from announcing a Loopba

I think you must be referring to the keepalives. 'No keep' on the interface will stop this but it will mean that the real status of the port will not be reflected in the router since it will always show as up.
