How Do You Determine the Version of Encoded Address Recognition Logic (EARL) on a Catalyst 5000 Series Switch?

If no submodule appears, does it mean you have EARL 1?

To determine the EARL version, issue a show module command.

Here is a helpful list:

  • Supervisor I/II: Always EARL 1
  • Supervisor III (submodule):
    • EARL 1 is an EARL 1
    • NFFC/NFFC+ is an EARL II
    • NFFC II is an EARL III
