How does keepalives functioning on 100BaseT full-duplex Interfaces?

What does a router do when it sends keepalives on a Fastethernet in full-duplex-mode and what does he checks for?

THX in advance

I found the answer.

The router sends CTP frames (ethertype 0x9000)

to its own hardware address and get that back from the switch.
