How to begin to troubleshoot CPE customer indicating circuit down

What are the steps required to find out where the problem is or is not when troubleshooting.

Explanin testing of customer circuit, equipment, interfaces, routes, csu/dsu etc.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Here are some steps and some urls that should help.

1. check physical equipment and cabling.

2. check configuration of equipment.

3. use a loopback plug to check T1 and Frame circuits.
