the devices are a 3750metro

Response time between devices connected by gigabit fiber is neglible, and one does not even need to bother in measuring it.

Cisco IPM tool provides this facility... IPM is part of LMS suite...

A simple ping will give you real time statistics-
TD-SW1#ping 10.1.2.17
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.1.2.17, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/2/8 ms
