How to configure Trunk between 6509 and 3548 switch

We need to trunk between switch 6509 and 3548 with ISL trunking . Guide me on how to configure trunk ports on both ends.

On the 3548

Conf t

Int f0/1

Switchport mode trunk

switchport trunk encapsulation isl

On 6509

set trunk 3/1 on isl

This is assuming that fastethernet 1 on the 3548 is a trunk port along with mod3 port 1 on the 6509.

Issue a 'Show trunk' on the 6509 to see if the trunks are active. If the trunks are not active then disable the port on the 6509 and then enable it again

set port disable 3/1

set port enable 3/1

Thanks for your reply , I have successfully configured ISL but my current problem is , I have connected Giga port as Trunk at 3548 and also one fast ethernet is connected and configured to run STP but all the ports are in formwarding stage.

How to solve this issue.
