How to create telnet on PIX firewall ?

I have a PIX 515E firewall at lab whithout any network. I want to telnet it and manage it through a swith in my lab. But I don't know how to create a managment Vlan like vlan 1 on it. Right now, I can telnet to the switch. I want one of the ports on switch to connect to PIX and I can telnet in through that port. So the PIX will look like a end system connected to the switch.

Re: How to create telnet on PIX firewall ?

Hello,

You will need to assign an IP address to an interface of the PIX. From there you can use the telnet configuration command to specify which devices can access the PIX via telnet.

ip address inside 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0

ip address dmz3 8.8.0.1 255.255.255.0

telnet 192.168.1.64 255.255.255.192 inside

telnet 8.8.0.2 255.255.255.255 dmz3

** only address within 192.168.1.64-127 can telnet to the inside interface

** only host 8.8.0.2 can telnet to the dmz3 interface

Hope this helps.

Regards,

James
