How to emulate PSTN?

Dear Sir!

I've such scheme:

R1aux---modem---???---modem---auxR2

(it's two routers, connected by modems through it's aux ports (back-to-back)).

How can I emulate PSTN (designate as "???")?

Best regards,

Re: How to emulate PSTN?

In oder to pass the data from R1 to R2 using AUX port without regular POTS line, you can connect two modems at AUX port back-to-back using NULL modem cable..Here is the url which discuss that in detail.

Re: How to emulate PSTN?

Dear Sir!

Thank you for answer, but it's not a my choise. I hope to make some cisco labs from technical_tips with really modems: i.e. chat-scripts, dial## etc.

My question: how can I emulate PSTN for the scheme above - by what means can I emulate dialstring## etc. working with real modems?

Best regards,

Perhaps you could consider 2 X FXS - ports with POTS dial peers.
