Hi there,
I am in need of serial numbers for all my cisco network devices. When I telneting to the switches and entering show version command I am getting the serial number where as the same when I am entering in the routers I didn't get it. I have so many remote routes where I have telnet access only.
Is there any way to get the same I mean through ciscoworks software or any other tools.
Physical serial no label is there but I wanted to find with IOS commands.
Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Hi,
It is difficult to the get the serial number of the router remotely, if your router is modular, you can use the command "sh diag", to see the serial numbers of the installed cards but as far as my knowledge goes there is no command to tell you the serial number of the router itself.

in addition to the first reply:
in some routers you can use the command "show hardware"
I know this command on the 72xx and 75xx routers.
I don't know, that this command canbe used in other platforms.
Hope this helps
