Re: how to forward local broadcast throuth wan

use IP HELPER xx.xx.xx.xx

where xx is a directed broadcast address (ie: 172.16.255.255 or 192.168.1.255)

Be sure that the interface of the destination has directed broadcast enabled.

Also, use IP FORWARD-PROTOCOL UDP (port number) in case the default broadcast types don't include the protocol you're trying to send.

Will "ip forward-protocol spanning-tree any-local-broadcast" do same work ?

Re: how to forward local broadcast throuth wan

Place the command IP HELPER xx.xx.xx.xx on the interface that the local broadcast is on.

xx.xx.xx.xx would be the destination of the broadcast. ie: 192.168.1.255 if you wish the packet to be a local broadcast on the 192.168.1.0 network. 192.168.1.1 if you wish the packet to be a unicast to this host.

If you use the destination format of 192.168.1.255, be sure that the destination router's interface has enable "ip directed-broadcast".

What type of broadcast are you forwarding? Check the defaults for IP HELPER. You may find that yours is already included. Disable protocols you don't wish to have forwarded and enable the ones you do by using "ip forward protocol".
