How to limit rate on a fastethernet interface with traffic-shape

I want to limit the bandwith in a 7200 Fastethernet, to 20 Mbps

Do I have to use bandwith, traffic-shape, or rate-limit ?

Which one is better for this case?

Re: How to limit rate on a fastethernet interface with traffic-s

The "bandwidth" statement is only for purposes of routing protocols and other information. It will not affect the amount of traffic going through the interface. Your best bet is to use rate-limit. CCO has lenty of documentation on his.

Current recommended method is to police/shape.

You can ofcourse shape only outbound traffic and you can poice inbound/outbound traffic

Currently we recommend you only MQC based features.
