How to limit the number of ARP entries?

Hello ,

I would like to restrict the number of PCs that can access a service at one time by configuring the maximum users on the Ethernet interface on the CPE.

How can I allow only the maximum number of ARP entries on the ethernet wire? How can this be configured?

Regards, Laurent

Re: How to limit the number of ARP entries?

You can configured static arp entries on the router and disable arp processing on the LAN interface as follow:

interface Ethernet0/0

ip address 192.168.12.1 255.255.255.0

no arp arpa

R1#ping 192.168.12.2

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.12.2, timeout is 2 seconds:

.....

Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)

R1#config t

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

R1(config)#arp 192.168.12.2 xxxx.xxxx.xxxx arpa

R1(config)#end

R1#ping 192.168.12.2

01:53:22: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by console

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.12.2, timeout is 2 seconds:

!!!!!

Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 20/21/28 ms

R1#wr t

Hope this helps,
