How to make a 6509 vlan EtherSVI?

I have configured a vlan on a 6509 so that it links the MSFC with a FWSM blade. The vlan is supposed to show as hardware type EtherSVI. Instead it shows a RP Virtual Ethernet. Can someone tell me how to make it EtherSVI?

Have you configured the firewall VLAN ?

If running CAT OS

set vlan x firewall-vlan

If running Native

firewall module vlan-group

firewall vlan-group

I have indeed. CATOS is running on the sup. Ive created the vlan and assigned it to the FWSM via the 'set vlan x firewall-vlan ' command. I then console to the MSFC and map the vlan via 'int vlan55' and assign it an ip address. Show int returns down/down and shows hardware type RP virtual ethernet rather than EtherSVI.
