I know that for some time you could not place a sniffer or any type of packet filtering device on a 2950 without a hub in between. I have heard that with the a newer IOS this is possible to sniff the LAN without a hub in the middle. If so, what is the proper config to do it. Thanks.

Thank you for responding. I found the docs today and tested a sniffer using the monitor session commands and it works like a charm. Was this fix applied in IOS 12.1.13?? thanks again.

Brandon,
The feature navigator is a good tool for finding out what features are in a specific version. http://www.cisco.com/go/fn
According to this, Switch Port Analyzer (SPAN) for the CAT2950, the image with the lowest version number showing is
c2950-i6q4l2-mz.12.1-11.EA1
