I would like to use a Cat3550 Switch (WS-C3550-48-EMI) in an ISP setup, where each 10/100 MBPS ports will be used for providing connectivity with the customers.
Switch IOS Version 12.1(14)EA1a.
Now I like to restrict bandwidth of each 10/100 MBPS ports of the switch to say 128 KBPS for a particular customer. Can anybody help me describing how to implement this.
Warm regards,
Malay.

Hello Malay,
for the 3550 with EMI there are numerous QoS options available to limit the traffic on 10/100 ports. You could use classes and limit traffic by ACL, class maps, policy maps, and aggregate policers. Not sure how much experience you have with these configurations, but you might want to check this document:
CISCO CATALYST 3550 SERIES SWITCHES
Configuring QoS

Hi Georg,
Thanks a lot for the input. I'm going through the document for Configuring QoS on Cat 3550. As I'm not conversant with this, it will take some time for me to be well conversant and choose the best suited option for my purpose. I would be very much thankful if you can suggest some solution which would suit my requirement, which I believe you understood well.
Warm regards,
Malay.

If you want to police traffic Input and Output for a customer, you need two polices.
One applied to the interface where customer is directly connected (like preview one).
One applied to the uplink on the switch.
The customer has to have static IP, so you can identify the customer on ACL
Something like this:
If Uplink for the switch is Gi1/0/1 and IP address for Customer 23 is 10.1.10.23/32
ip access-list extended BANDWIDTH-CUSTOMER_23-DOWNLOAD-ACL
permit ip any host 10.1.10.23
!
class-map BANDWIDTH-CUSTOMER_23-DOWNLOAD-CM
description --- Match traffic downloads for customer 23 --
match access-group name BANDWIDTH-CUSTOMER_23-DOWNLOAD-ACL
!
policy-map ALL-DOWNLOADS-PM
description --- Police all downloads, one custemer per class-map ---
class BANDWIDTH-CUSTOMER_23-DOWNLOAD-CM
police 2048000 262144 exceed-action drop
!
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
description --- Upling to the Edge router ---
service-policy input ALL-DOWNLOADS-PM
