how to setup port redundancy on 7206 to single enet bdcst domian (hub)

RTR 7206 VXR (Qty 2)

IOS 12.1(5)

We're trying to setup some kind of port level redundacy on our Internet perimeter router, already have two 7206 running HSRP between them. Each has a seperate DS3 carrier and crosover cable running iBGP.

|- DS3 --- 7206 --|--FW

(inet) - | x |

|- DS3--- 7206 ---|--FW

Mngt. is asking if we can also have port level redundancy maybe to two cisco hubs/switches?

Thought about port EtherChannels but not sure CAT5000 is in the budget. Is there any other way to provide port redundancy on one IP subnet /enet bdcst domain?

Hi,

As far as I'm aware, Fast EtherChannel is supported on Catalyst 5000 and Cisco 7500 Routers 11.1(14)CA. I'm not sure if any other Switch could be used. There is a support page for Etherchannel. I have included the URL below. Hopefully it will be of some use to you:

Hi Lisa-

Thanks, but as I mentioned we want to provide port redundancy to two different sitches, Etherchannel is bonding from 2-8 port together for increased bandwidth to one end-point switch that also support EtherChannel.
