Hi,
is it possible to make cisco 3550 as vpn server? if so how do i do that & what is the IOS ver. ?

I don't believe IPSec is supported on the 3550, if that is what your question was.

AFAIK the 3550 does not support VPN configurations or anything to do with IPSec configuration.
Switches by design are optimized for L2 switching and some technologies like multilayer switching using L3 and L4 headers. At most, you could do intervlan routing on it. Anything beyond that would warrant the use of a router.
You could make do with a cheap router for getting started off with a VPN maybe?
Dont know if you can purchase a module for the 3550 that might enable this though.
Looks dicey!

Hi Arvind,
3550 is not a modular switch so it will definetely not possible though it may be possible with cat6k that too after installing VPN service module.
