How to understand Supervisor Engine Redundancy on the Catalyst 4507R?

The doc say :"The two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces available in RPR mode are the first Gigabit Ethernet ports on each supervisor. That is, only Gig 1/1 and Gig 2/1 are available. The other two ports, Gig 1/2 and Gig 2/2, are not available. " How to understand this sentence? If I have a supervisor engine, Can I use G1/1 or G1/1 and G1/2? The G1/2 is the backup of the G1/1?

If you have dual supervisors in a 4507R, the only ports which will be active are 1/1 and 2/1. The other ports 1/2 and 2/2 are not available when you have a redundant Supervisor set up
