How to verify COS setting on 802.1q header

have the following setup:

ESR10k===dot1Q.GE====CAT6K

there is an outgoing QoS policy on the ESR10K that does "set cos 5" on traffic that belongs to a certain qos-group..

how can i verify that this L2 cos value is set correctly via the CAT6K ? is there any show or debug commands on the CAT6K that will let me verify this value ?

BTW, i have tried to use SPAN and monitor incoming traffic on CAT6K by using a Sniffer Pro.. however, the captured packets does not include the vlan tag.

thanks,

arnel

to sniff the COS Field , you have to configure the Monitor Port as a trunk. It is a little bit tricky, you have to verify that the Monitor Port is really trunking.

Can´t remember exacly but on a native IOS 65XX you need something like "no trunk negotiate" on the monitor Port.

Without trunking the Switch forwards the pakets to the monitor port without the dot1q tag.
