Hi There
I want to run HRSP between two 7206 routers. I have seen from most network diagrams that the way to do this is to have two switches above them interconnected to beoth routers, this allows all routing to switch to the redundant router in cases of failure. Can I use a pix to perform the role of these switches??

Hi.
I don't think you can do this, unless you tunnel through the PIX, because HSRP uses multicasts and the routers must be on the same subnet... Where would the hosts be?
Anyway, why would you want to do such thing? Maybe I'm not seeing the picture...
Regards,
NM

I think what you are trying to accomplish is a pix failover - which is kind of like HSRP - but not really: See attached link - not sure if it will help.
