HSRP & GLBP

Can HSRP & GLBP be configured on the same interfaces for redundancy ? If so can you point me to the proper documentation on how to do this ?

Re: HSRP & GLBP

I never find such doc. of the example of HSRP & GLBP at the same interface / VLAN. You have to test it in your lab. Please advise the result of your test.

And, could you advise the reason to have both at same interface ?

Re: HSRP & GLBP

Hi,

The IOS will accept the commands on the interfaces. This configuration will not led to a proper design consideration. Both HSRP and GLBP is used for the first-hop getway level redundancy but both have a different way of working. It depends on the design that your are making, to choose with redundancy protocol you should go for.

Over the WAN you can use GLBP and it will be a good choice. At LAN you can go for HSRP and have it configured for load-balancing.

HTH,Please rate if it does.

Re: HSRP & GLBP

Lino,

Yes, It is possible to configured HSRP and GLBP on the same interface but you will not be able to configure a common Standby IP Address for HSRP and GLBP.

I am not sure why you need to enable HSRP and GLBP on the same interface. Please provide details if possible.

Personally, I would enable either HSRP or GLBP and not both.

Please refer the below URLs for configuring HSRP and GLBP.

GLBP

HSRP

Let me know if it helps.
