HSRP ping query - using combined supervisor router
I have two cat 4705R switches connected on Gig E. The supervisors are a combined router.
I have set up a router active and standby pair . From local console on switch "A" I can ping the hsrp address( local active) and the "real" address of the hsrp router. From switch "B" I can ping the "real" address of the standby router ( local ) and the HSRP address of the active router.
I cannot ping the the "real" address of the hsrp active router on switch "A" from switch "B".
Is this normal ? I know my config is good as I have done this on a cat6000 - only difference is that I have seperate router and supervisor in the cat6000.
I am also allowing all vlans on the trunks between the two cats .
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
