HSRP question

We have 2 6509's with a lot of switches hung off between both 6509's . My questions is do you need a different standby group number for each vlan that is defined or can the standby group number be the same for all interfaces on each 6509 . The general setup is switches have uplinks one to each 6509 . We currently have it setup with a different standby group number for each vlan defined , I'm just wondering if this is neccesary or can they all use the same group number .

Re: HSRP question

Standby group numbers do not need to be unique over multiple vlans. It is only mandatory to make them unique when you have multiple HSRP groups on the same vlan.
